Welkom - A history of the Inn At Old Orchard Road

This sturdy Duth farmhouse, built in 1906, sits where it once was profusely surrounded by brilliantly blooming gladiola and mum plants.  Flower farms were almost indigenous to the area and traces of the old foundation for the bulb and seed storage building are still in evidence today.

Purchased in 1973 by present owner, Innkeeper Elizabeth "Betsy" DeWaard, the house had withstood the presence of many large families and although very strong, was in disrepair.  Thus began a long rejuvenation project.

In May, 1997, after Elizabeth retired from 35 years of teaching, it opened as a Bed and Breakfast.  And once again, the house was filled with many wonderful people.

Come stay and breathe in cool lake breezes from the quaint front porch while relaxing on antique wicker furniture.  Or head for the spacious patio, rustic gazebo or refreshing fountain.  Wherever you relax in the back yard, a choice of sun or shade is always yours.

Birds and rabbits will welcome your presence on nearly an acre of fresh greenery.
